Junior Team Tennis Program News

The Clinton-Laurens-Newberry-Tennis-Association (CLNTA) began its first ever Junior Team Tennis (JTT) program this fall.  The program consisted of two divisions, Under-12 and Under-10 years old. This 8 week program included team practices and weekend match play.  Players were awarded championship points based on their finishes in each of the 4 tournaments.

The Under-12 points champion was Owen Crow with 19 points and finalist Price Turner with 17 points.  Bates Turner, Clara Robertson, and Kendra Freeman rounded out the top 5.

The Under-10 points champion was Jevin Long with 33 points and finalist Wyatt Little with 24 points.  At the end of the season, Wyatt was tied with Gibson Partee with 24 points each, so a sudden death play-off was held.  Wyatt won in a dramatic final set tiebreak (5-4) to take sole possession of second place. Rounding out the top five were Will Henry Rinaca and Walker Little.  Other players were Chelsea Brown, Eli Freeman, Ella Rinaca, and Ryland Edwards.

At the awards ceremony, CLNTA Youth Development Director, Wilson Smith, congratulated all of the parents and players who are supporting sportsmanship and integrity through tennis, the sport for a lifetime.
