The Clinton-Laurens-Newberry Tennis Association held its two week-long morning youth tennis camps this past July: one in Newberry (July 6th through July 9th) and one in Laurens (July 20th through July 23rd). The Newberry Camp was instructed by the Newberry College Tennis Coach, Mark Gardiner and assistants from the Mid-Carolina High School girls tennis team. The Laurens Camp was taught by the Laurens High School tennis coach, David Corley, assistant coach, Scott Horner and the LHS girls and boys tennis teams.

The Newberry Camp had six attendees, and the Laurens Camp had eight. For only a $10 admission fee, each child received a CLNTA t-shirt. They also received goody bags (filled with an unopened can of tennis balls, assorted bags of chips, a bag of chocolate candies, a USTA sticker and bag tag, etc.) inside State Farm drawstring bags.

At the end of Camp each Thursday all enjoyed pizzas, sodas and sports drinks. Thanks go to Little Caesar’s in Newberry, Roma Restaurant in Laurens, State Farm (Matt Davis and Rachael Killingsworth) for the drawstring bags and Sharon and Harry Sullivan (Kinards) for the tennis balls for both camps.

The next activity for the CLNTA will be its annual round robin mixed doubles tournament on Saturday morning, August 29th, at Laurens City Park. For more information contact Martha Wilder at 864-340-1888 or go to our Facebook page and/or website.
